Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood members shout slogans during a protest in front of the Supreme Judicial Council in Cairo, Egypt, Friday, April 19, 2013. Arabic on the T-shirt reads, “clean judiciary.” Thousands of supporters of Egypt’s Islamist president have taken to the streets of Cairo, calling on him to “cleanse the judiciary.” Mohammed Morsi and the judiciary have had tense relations since he came to power in June last year. Judges accused him of trampling on their authority, while Morsi supporters charge that the judiciary is controlled by supporters of ousted President Hosni Mubarak.

Supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi throw stones at riot police and army personnel during clashes near Rabaa Adawiya square in Cairo August 14, 2013. Egypt is in turmoil after security forces moved in to clear the protest camps of thousands of supporters of deposed Islamist president Mohamed Mursi on Wednesday, and violence spread around the country. Protesters clashed with police and troops who used bulldozers, teargas and live ammunition to clear two Cairo sit-ins. Egypt's health ministry says 623 people were killed and thousands wounded in the worst day of civil violence in the modern history of the most populous Arab state. Muslim Brotherhood supporters say the death toll is far higher, with hundreds of bodies as yet uncounted by the authorities. Picture taken August 14, 2013.
