Rule 2.00 from MLB rules: OBSTRUCTION is the act of a fielder who, while not in possession of the ball and not in the act of fielding the ball, impedes the progress of any runner.
這是個「judgment call」（也就是裁判自由心證的判決），但這不是個誤判！因為上面的規則寫得很清楚：妨礙跑壘的定義，是當守備球員手上沒有球，也不是在做守備動作的時候，他阻礙了跑者的跑壘。
