Bank of England employees carry concept designs for the new polymer five-pound note featuring war-time prime minister Winston Churchill, right, and the 10-pound note featuring author Jane Austen. The UK will start printing banknotes on plastic instead of cotton paper in 2016 given “overwhelmingly supportive” public backing for the switch, the central bank said.
