Libby Lane se convirtió este lunes en la primera obispa de la Iglesia de Inglaterra, anglicana, en una ceremonia de ordenación que tuvo lugar en la gran catedral gótica de York. Elizabeth Jane Holden Lane, de 48 años, es la nueva obispa de Stockport, y la primera mujer en asumir esta función desde que en 1534 el rey Enrique VIII fundó la Iglesia de Inglaterra, la primera de la Iglesia anglicana. Es la primera obispa de la Iglesia de Inglaterra, pero no de la anglicana, porque ya existen en Gales, Estados Unidos, Australia, Canadá y Suazilandia.
