Chinese Nationalist soldiers of the Chinese Expeditionary Force, under command of General Wei Lihuang, move forward towards the Salween river on the frontlines in southwester China. There, Chinese troops launched a general offensive in western Yunnan, to help break the blockade of the Japanese on the Burma Road. The soldiers bring their pet monkey, with transport weapons, on the backs of mules. Linxiang District, Yunnan Province, Republic of China. 10 July 1944.
