Paul Ryan was elected the 54th speaker of the House by a margin that included some of the hard-line conservative Republicans who ousted  his predecessor, John Boehner. “Let’s be frank, the House is broken,” Mr. Ryan said. He urged his colleagues to find a way to collaborate, saying, “We are not settling scores, we are wiping the slate clean.”
