John F. Kennedy
Even though JFK was allergic to dogs, the Kennedys had a brood of nine pooches, including Clipper, the German Shepherd.

Richard Nixon
The Nixons' black and white Cocker Spaniel, Checkers, was actually part of one of the 37th president's scandals: In 1952, Nixon denied accepting inappropriate campaign gifts, except for one: the puppy.

Ronald Reagan
Rex, a King Charles Spaniel, was a Christmas gift from Reagan to his wife, Nancy. He was named after Rex Scouten, a White House chief usher.

Warren G. Harding
Laddie Boy, Harding's Airedale terrier, got so much attention from the press that he's considered the first presidential pet to reach celebrity status.
Barack Obama
The Obamas adopted Bo, a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy and his wife Vicki, in 2009. Since then, he's been busy greeting White House visitors, presiding over the Easter Egg Roll, and visiting the Children’s National Medical Center.
