JANUARY 8: An Israeli teacher comforts a South Sudanese migrant student before leaving to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport enroute to South Sudan. Authorities are offering migrants cash to leave voluntarily and threatening them with arrest if they don't. Some 60,000 Africans have slipped into Israel from Egypt since 2005. Most of the migrants fled repressive regimes and cannot be expelled. But authorities began rounding up migrants from South Sudan, which has friendly relations with Israel and can be expected to treat its returnees reasonably well. (Ariel Schalit/Associated Press)
