杯葛，又稱作抵制，在商業領域上則稱為不買運動
台灣及港澳地區常用的「杯葛」一詞譯自英語「boycott」，源自英軍退役上尉查爾斯·杯葛（Charles Boycott），他退役後在愛爾蘭擔當梅歐郡地主歐恩伯爵的土地經紀人。1880年，因為反對當時的土地改革，拒絕降低地租，並驅逐佃戶，受到了由愛爾蘭土地同盟組織的抵制。當時查爾斯無法僱傭任何人收割農作物，直到愛爾蘭聯合主義者和英軍志願為他服務，但有時甚至需要7000個護衛來保護他，而最後也被迫離開了愛爾蘭。
