Residents inspect the damage from what activists said was an airstrike by forces loyal to Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad on the Douma neighbourhood of Damascus. Mohammed Emwazi, the Islamic State killer known as Jihadi John, was targeted this week by US airstrikes in the Syrian city of Raqqa. The Pentagon said that a drone had targeted a vehicle believed to be carrying Emwazi in Raqqa, the de facto capital of Isis in northern Syria
