In the new book “The Family Acid,” Roger Steffens’s photographs capture a life spent exploring the counterculture during its heyday. Though the namesake of “Joan Didion in Berkeley” (August 1972) is not in the picture, “many who have seen it have commented that it evokes the spirit of Joan Didion’s writing at that time,” Steffens writes in the book.
