It is reported that the US Consulate knew since Monday that the swimmers were not robbed, and asked Brazilian police to suppress the story

Police have recommended Lochte and Feigen be indicted for falsely reporting a crime, while the US Olympic Committee has apologized for the embarrassment and distraction caused by the scandal

Lochte's endorsement deals with Speedo, Airweave and Polo Ralph Lauren could now be in jeopardy
