High-Heeled Shoe Church, in Chiayi. 高跟鞋教堂, 嘉義

People visit the High-Heeled Shoe Church in Chiayi, western Taiwan, 23 July 2016. The church, costing 7.6 million US dollars, is made with 320 pieces of blue glass and steel frame. It is 17 meter tall, 11 meters wide, 25 meters long, and is certified by the Guineess Word Records as “the largest buliding shaped like a shoe”. The Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration built it as one of its four church-themed landmarks, to commemorate gilrs who had their feet amputagted during the 1950s due to blackfoot disease and could not walk down the red carpet in high-heels for their wedding. The glass slipper church was formally opened to public on 22 July. (Photo by David Chang/EPA)
